MyRadar Weather Radar App Overview and Details
MyRadar is a fast, easy-to-use, yet powerful weather app that displays animated weather radar around your current location, allowing you to quickly see what weather is coming your way. Just start the app, and your location pops up with animated live radar, with radar loop lengths of up to two hours. This basic functionality provides the quickest way to get a fast snapshot of the weather on-the-go, and it’s what has made MyRadar so successful over the years. Check your phone and get an instant assessment of the weather that will impact your day.
In addition to the live radar, MyRadar has an ever-increasing list of weather and environmentally-related data layers that you can overlay on top of the map; our animated winds layer shows a breathtaking visual representation of both surface winds and winds at the jetstream level; the frontal boundaries layer shows high and low pressure systems as well as frontal boundaries themselves; the earthquakes layer is a great way to stay on top of the latest reports on seismic activity, completely customizable as to severity and time; our hurricane layer allows users to stay on top of the latest tropical storm and hurricane activity throughout the world; the aviation layer overlays AIRMETs, SIGMETs and other aviation-related data, including the ability to track flights and display their IFR flight plans and paths, and the “wildfires” layer allows users to stay abreast of the latest fire activity around the United States.
In addition to the data layers, MyRadar has the ability to send weather and environmental alerts, including alerts from the National Weather Center, such as Tornado and Severe Weather alerts. MyRadar includes the ability to receive alerts based off of Tropical Storm and Hurricane activity; you can configure the app to send you an alert any time a tropical storm or hurricane forms, or is upgraded or downgraded.
One of the most useful features in MyRadar is the ability to provide advanced rain alerts; our patent-pending process for predicting hyper-local rainfall is the most accurate in the industry. Instead of having to constantly check the app, MyRadar will send you an alert up to an hour in advance as to when the rain will arrive at your current location, down to the minute, including details on intensity and duration. These alerts can be a life saver when you’re on-the-go and don’t always have time to check the weather – our systems will proactively do the work for you and let you know in advance before the rain hits.
All of the weather and environmental data represented on MyRadar is displayed on our custom mapping system, developed in-house. This mapping system uses your devices GPU, which makes it incredibly fast and speedy. When you’re looking for quick weather information on-the-go, that makes a huge difference. The map has the standard pinch/zoom capability which allows you to smoothly zoom and pan around the United States and the rest of the world to see what the weather is like anywhere on the planet.
In addition to the free features of the app, the premium upgrade is available, including real-time hurricane tracking – great for the start of hurricane season. This feature provides additional data above and beyond the free version, including the cone of probability for tropical storm/hurricane forecast tracks, and also includes a detailed synopsis from the National Hurricane Center. The premium upgrade also include the professional radar pack, which allows greater detail of radar from individual stations. Users can select individual radar stations around the US, select the radar tilt angle, and also change the radar product being displayed, including base reflectivity and wind velocity – great for experienced weather buffs looks to stay on top of possible tornado formation.
MyRadar is also available for WearOS devices – try on your smartwatch!

Recent MyRadar Weather Radar Reviews
The new update has so many named location like cities states and countries that the actual weather fronts are totally obscured. Please make this feature optional? I like to zoom out to see the larger progress of the weather systems, but all I see now is a blur of white printing. Please remove this feature or make it optional! I have used this app successfully and recommended it often for years!
This app has potential, but I shouldn’t have to pay for more features. You can’t get the weather radar prediction loop to go longer (Do I get a longer timeframe if I pay??). So you’re only seeing the past 45 minutes. I keep getting false alerts on my phone for severe weather, only to have nothing happen. The other FREE app I use can go up to 6 hours!
The latest update is causing issues with the app when you zoom in our out. The cities and towns that are labled don’t dissappear or shrink to scale and are also showing up like double vision, so they completely obscure the view. All you see is a huge blur of words. Please fix!!!
I love this app but lately it has not been loading the radar completely. It stops at the last 10 minutes. I just started having this issue this year but my mom has had this issue on her phone for over a year. Everything else about it is great! I love the notifications and the graphics! It is by far the best radar available!
Great radar/weather app, but sadly an update has caused a problem with it… The app used to show wind smoothly at full frame rate. Now, it seems like they’ve added something like red dots to the starting point of each wind line(?) and now it lags really badly. Hoping this is not permanent. This used to be a 5 star app, but this kind of regression takes it down to 3 stars for me.
I don’t like “My Drives”. I didn’t enable this feature but I still see “frequent locations” on the map. I don’t think this is a weather app’s business. How can these be deleted? Also: I am getting “Risk of severe weather in your area within the next 24 hours” notifications and when I open the app, it zooms in to a hurricane 500 miles west of Costa Rica (over 4000 miles from where I am) and I don’t see any particular alerts for my area. Where are the alerts that I get notifications for?
I don’t trust the radar, because the temp is always off. Like right now the temp on tool bar shows 91°, and has for 2 and a half hours. But just got clobbered by heavy thunderstorms. All other sites, and the car all say 75°!!! this has been an ongoing problem!!! Has been re-loaded many times, but doesn’t change. Still showing 91°. Very frustrating!!! Un-installing!!!
Android TV app v8.37.2 (and a few previous) seems like an accident or after thought when done building the phone version. It’s a developers afternoon to go from meh to cool. It’s got good bones (clean & simple interface). Just needs to grow a little. The Android TV icon has always been wonky and it loads data about 70% of the time. I can’t speak to the phone version.
First learned of MyRadar on our workphone: It was our go-to weather tracking app, which inspired me to install on my own device. But after only a couple of years, annoying changes took place which, along with its complicated navigation, saw me coming back to it less and less. And just tonight, while trying to track an approaching storm & hoping to get add’l forcasting info, none of the app features would load (this comes a day after latest updates). I took this as my final cue to uninstall.
Fantastic app. If you lamented the loss of Raindar this is the app for you! Simple, loads fast, one page, crisp and clear radar. I n fact with plenty of additional features I’d have to say it’s even better than Raindar. I especially like the forecast popup that packs everything you need into one small window that disappears but can be brought back with just a tap. Perfect. Get it.
