Recent Deliveroo: Food Delivery UK Reviews
The interface is good, and functionality is usually smooth. However, sometimes comparing exact items on competing services is about 10% to 12% cheaper. They do offer a wider selection of restaurants in my area though. Also why am I paying service fees on top of delivery fees? Those two issues often compel me to increasingly use other similar services instead. The above review is relevant in my area only (Dubai). I have not used it in other countries so this may not be relevant to your location.
Overall I think this is a pretty good app. However EVERY time I order it prompts me for my location twice – once on app opening and once again at checkout. The wording of the prompt is particularly annoying: “We *need* your device location”. You don’t need my device location … I know my own address and I can type it in (which the app then allows). Either this is bad UX design or an intentional dark pattern (e.g. to try to get GPS data), but it is misleading and adds avoidable friction.
App is OK but the fees are expensive. There’s a service fee and a delivery fee and a bag fee, so it ends up being much more than you expect when you get to the check out! Then they want you to tip the driver on top! Deliveroo plus is hardly worth it either because the service fee goes up the more you spend but you have to spend a certain amount to get free delivery. I will be sticking to just eat I think.
the app is useful overall, BUT it has an issue where it Never remembers the default delivery location even it has already been setup at account level – instead every time I open the app it asks to confirm the curent location – and complains about location data being turned off – which is annoying beyond belief and simply put just awfully bad design. Many people prefer to have location data turned off by default because it eats up too much battery. This is VERY environment unfriendly !!! Bad.
Worst experience I’ve ever had. The rider texted when he arrived, 30 seconds later, while I was going downstairs, he texted that he was leaving. He basically left with the order and marked the delivery as completed. After 3 calls to support, they are unable to do anything, including call the driver. No money reverted. Nothing on their end to support the customer. I won’t mention the bad UX in the app. Don’t use this app. You have plenty of good options out there. Skip this one.
Just FYI: My order is no longer ‘on time’ if the arrival time has been updated more than once. I order my food and the time frame is given; if it’s no longer in that time frame, don’t tell me my food is still arriving ‘on time’. Onto a more positive note: the app is easy to use, no problem navigating several of the menus for restaurants. Food is consistently kept well with minimal heat loss. Good selections of restaurants in my area.
Super intuitive and clean UI. My only gripe is adding an address is a bit weird. When you’re on the map screen, tap the search icon, and enter an address, it doesn’t register that address. You gotta go to the next page to do that. Also (just a little idea for the devs), I think it’d be cool if there was a progress bar notification we could enable. Not necessary, just a neat little feature I think would be cool to add. All in all, great app, not that much confusion.
It’s a great app for short notice deliveries from restaurants and shops. Recently though they’ve started splitting deliveries for some reason. I’ll order a small shop and 2 or 3 riders handle it seperately. I’ve had multiple issues with one part showing up but then the other riders never arriving, whilst it gets marked as completed. Seems like they’re doing this to scam people. It has a great refund policy though. I’ve marked the items as missing and it’s automatically refunded
I have used this app among others for multiple orders in the past. It used to be great but now I’ve been running into missing orders and cancelled deliveries sometimes with no compensation what so ever. When you face this issue, it’s the driver’s word against yours and even if they never came there isnt much you can do. There are many other options to use, after losing 90£ and trying to get it back for 2 hours straight, I’ve given up on the money and this app.
Reasons for deleting this app. 30 seconds to take money from your account but days to receive a refund. Failed deliveries. No option to resolve the issue by talking on the phone to resolve it. The system for delivery is allegedly connected to Google maps but if you deny precise location access in the app then they basically deny your registered postal address exists. I don’t blame the deliveroo riders or the support staff. I do think the company holds too much personal data for years.
